Okay! Here we go again. The Great Zambia Lusaka Mission Leadership Council. On the 1st to the 3rd of November we held our 2nd live mission leadership with President and Sister Kupu. After the MLC we all gathered together to have a picture with Sister Kupu and President Kupu. We have such great leaders! These are the Sister Training Leaders and they are truly a great blessing to this mission just like any other sister we have or have ever had. In this meeting we welcomed Sister Newey ( 2nd left) and sister Owusu-Afriyie ( 4th Right) who are newly called to this wonderful set of sister training leaders. The Priesthood of Zion! Just by the look at this picture you can easily tell that we not only have handsome zone leaders but great and mighty men in the priesthood. Each of these Elders adds a great contribution to the success of us as a mission. Among other great things that took place in this great meeting, we were blessed to have Elder and Sister French from the area office in our midst. We were taught the importance of being optimistic in the work so as to overcome negative thoughts that lead to depression and other feelings that are discouraging. We love you Elder and Sister French! Its good to be in the Great Zambia Lusaka Mission! We had a series of trainings and discussions from all corners of the work. We were greatly edified and inspired by the discussions we had and therefore it sufficeth one to be of notion that the spirit was present during the whole discussion. Among many wonderful and great discussions we had, we included working with the stake and ward leaders in maximizing proselyting time as our main subject. At the end of this 3 day Mission Leadership Council and before all leaders from Malawi handed back to the worm heart of Africa (Malawi), we joined with Elder and Sister Groesbeck at their home for our very last lunch as a group. The Groesbeck are such an amazing couple and its always a blessing for us as a mission to work with them. They will dearly be missed when they leave in February.

We are pleased to have them and look forward to their great contribution to the work here in the Great Zambia Lusaka Mission. President and Sister Kupu have been in the mission for the last 4 months and this group was their 4th group to welcome into the Mission. They love them and were very happy to receive each one of them. With their trainers, starting from the top left : Elder Kigonya and Elder Olsen, Sister Rice and Sister Ntwe, Elder Harmon and Elder Zhuwankinyu, and lastly Elder Kennedy and Elder Komakech
We are pleased to announce the honorable release of these 5 fantastic missionaries. Each of them has been great and created history that has contributed to the greatness of the Great Zambia Lusaka mission. We love them and will surely miss them, our hope and prayer is that the lord will grant unto them much success in their next step of life. Left to right: Elder Brewerton to Canada, Elder Malinga to Swaziland, President Kupu to Lusaka mission, Elder Kapande to Zimbabwe, Elder Etiang to Uganda. Sister Aidoo was the only Sister t returning home. With her going we are now left with only 3 sisters from the great land of Ghana. She will live to be remembered for her great work. President and Sister Kupu continue to show their generosity by providing the departing missionaries with a delicious last meal, of course the pig was the main course of the meal.
It is always a happy time to see new missionaries come into the Mission! With such great energy and excitement, they are a ray of sunshine waiting to get working. We look forward to the wonderful things they will do here in the Lord's Vineyard. Elder Mira from Alaska Elder Lusk from Virginia Sister Gwebu from South Africa Elder Chauke from South Africa Sister Porter from Idaho Sister Marriott from South Africa Sister Donkoh from Ghana Sister Asemnyinah from Ghana These two great sisters came from the Ghana MTC the following day after the first six new missionaries. Just like the other new missionaries, they arrived with lots of smiles and dimples ready to get working.
This transfer we were sad to bid farewell to these 4 wonderful missionaries. Each of them have done great work and they will surely be missed and remembered . We hope and pray that the Lord will help them adjust well as they begin their post mission life. These two sisters have left many smiles on peoples faces here in Zambia and Malawi . They both come from the great land of Zimbabwe and are super happy to go home and witness the construction of the newly announced temple. We pray that they will be married and sealed in that great temple. Sister Moyo and Sister Motsi. Elder Ford and Sister Andriamamonjisoa have both been great leaders in the mission. They have used their great leadership skills to bring to pass much good, They will be missed for the great lessons that they have left with us. It's always hard to watch these great leaders leave. These were their very last moments with President and Sister Kupu. This great group is the 3rd group to be sent off by the Kupus.
It is always mixed feelings when great missionaries leave the Mission; the epitome of a "bittersweet" moment. They have contributed much to the Lord's work, but we are happy to see them move onto their next step of life. We wish them the very best in their future endeavors and in all that The Lord guides them to do. These three sisters have done amazing work and they will surely be remembered. Sister Nkosi has returned to her family in South Africa, Sister Tuai to Utah and Sister Zohner to Idaho. The Pig roast has become a Mission CultureDue to the great success of the previous departing dinner, we decided to have another "pig night" with our most recent departing missionaries. Although it takes a few hours to roast it, it was well worth the time. The missionaries all had great things to say about this wonderful meal. President Kupu and Junior Kupu took the job of roasting it, and President Kupu was the one who cut and served it. DINNER TIMEA big thank you to Sister Kupu, who oversaw the whole dinner organization and preparation. She even prepared a traditional Tongan drink, called otai. It is basically a watermelon drink, with some added sugar to make it sweet. AIRPORTAnd finally they made it to the airport. It was a little hard to let them go, but we are grateful for their smiles and energy all the way unto the end of their Missions.
Safe travels home! This week all the Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders were called in from the four corners of the mission for the first Mission Leadership Council (MLC) with President and Sister Kupu! The MLC took place over a day and a half and consisted of instructions from both President and Sister Kupu, videos from their seminar with the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles back in June, and break out sessions where the missionaries got to get a little creative! "These 18 months or 2 years that you spend serving the Lord will determine the rest of your life." Because we will be losing 5 of our current leaders, new leaders were called to attend the meeting. There was a nice mix of Zone Leaders, Sister Training Leaders, District Leaders, and Trainers at the meeting which added some great perspective. Looks like a happy bunch in Lilongwe. They must be having great successes. Now it's obvious why they're so successful.
Welcome to Blantyre! These missionaries are a little too serious. Just kidding... they're crazy. That's what happens in Malawi. While visiting in Lilongwe for the first time, the Kupus held a devotional with the members of the Lilongwe District. There were about 200 members present. A role play of how members should invite non-members to church was presented. Also, the branch and district leaders were instructed on what they should do when a non-member attends church for the first time. |
